1TIMOTHY CHAPTER 1-CONTEMPORARY ALIGNED VERSION (SPIRITCODE)

1. From Paul, a messenger of Jesus Christ under the instruction of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ who is our hope.

2. To Timothy, my son in the faith. I pray for Grace, mercy and peace for you, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

3. I would still like you to stay in Ephesus, just as I said when I went to Macedonia, so that you might bring direction to certain ones there to teach correct doctrine,

4. And not to get caught up with mythological stories and never-ending genealogical hierarchies. These things only arouse useless curiosity instead of growing people’s faith – so please take care of this issue.

5. The whole purpose of our message is to bring forth people with God’s heart of love and with a good conscience and genuine faith and trust in God.

6. Some have changed course entirely and gone down the road of useless drivel.

7. They would love to be teachers of the Law, but they don’t know where they’re coming from or where they’re going with it all.

8. We know that the Law is for a good purpose if one knows how to let it be lived out spiritually in one’s life.

9. We also know that the Law is not there to admonish those who walk in the Spirit, but is a clear word of admonition and warning to lawless and disobedient people, unbelieving people who do evil and don’t care about God, people who would kill anybody to get what they want, even their own mothers and fathers,

10. And for those who traffic in both male and female prostitution, kidnapping, lying, and any other wicked thing that you could mention, all of which is counter to the message of truth that we preach;

11. The wonderful message that comes from a good and loving God, the message that was entrusted to me to preach.

12. I thank Jesus Christ my lord who has made this possible for me, and who is able to trust me to serve people in this way.

13. Me of all people, who in the past dishonored his name, and persecuted his church. But he had mercy on me because I was in unbelief and did not know the wrong I was doing.

14. The Lord has shown enormous love and goodness to me and given me his very own faith and love which I now share in, with him.

15. There is no greater truth that a man could embrace; That Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners – and I was the greatest.

6. Nonetheless I was given this great mercy so that Jesus Christ could use someone like me as an example for those who will from now on believe in him and share eternal life with him.

17. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

18. I am committing you to this task that I have just outlined to you Timothy my son, just as it was prophesied over you, so that you will be equipped to fight the good fight,

19. Having a firm grasp on your faith, and living true to your conscience, not like some others who have forsaken their conscience and thrown their faith overboard.

20. Hymenaeus and Alexander have both done that very thing, and I have delivered them over to Satan, so that they may learn once more to honor God’s name.
